Inspecting Log Structures
The log structure, in of itself, presents numerous inspection issues that do not present when inspecting the “standard construction stick built” home. This presentation will address those unique items. Topics to be addressed include design types and features, construction fundamentals, commonly found method and material concerns, construction fundamentals that vary from stick-built homes, environmental concerns, structure aging and maintenance issues. Inspection consider4ations and methods will be addressed.
Illustrated Power-Point presentation authored and presented by Thomas G. Valosin, NY Licensed Home Inspector # 16000005194, NY State authorized HI Education Instructor and owner of ASKUS Consulting Services Home Inspector Education School. Material will be drawn from the authors experience and training as well as publicly available material from the US Forest Products Research Institute, The Journal of Light Construction, InterNACHI Continuing Education, the Log Home Council, the International Log Builders Association and the website “Free Log Home Information”.
This is an 8 credit hour course.
